Job Centres, Staffordshire and West Midland
Summary/background of company
Local Jobcentres in the West Midlands provide information on available work opportunities and facilitate unemployment benefits, including Universal Credits.
Instalment/solutions provided:
We designed and installed integrated intruder alarm and smoke cloak systems for a number of the employment services job centres in Staffordshire and the West Midlands.
Challenges the client faced
After experiencing a number of break-ins at various Jobcentres throughout the West Midlands and Staffordshire, often resulting in criminal damage and the theft of equipment, there was collective frustration by employment centre staff and management that the thieves almost without fail never caught. So, with the use of innovative technology, we worked with the Jobcentres to create a plan designed to stop the intruders in their tracks.
Equipment we installed
We designed and installed integrated intruder alarm and smoke cloak systems at various Jobcentre offices throughout the Birmingham region. When triggered, these systems would fill the protected area with a harmless dense smoke.
How Justice approached the challenges
Working with each specific location, we identified the areas of the building which were a particularly vulnerable target for example the rear of the premises, fire exit stairwells, ground floor windows. We installed detection in all these areas and located smoke cloak systems at these points as well.
The final outcome
The installation has already proved its worth at one of the Centres, which got broken into some time later. When the local police force arrived on the scene, they discovered the intruders lost in a sea of mist, unable to find their way out of the building, enabling an easy arrest.
